While these mites are a bit more uncommon at higher elevations, we still see them and can help you treat them. While it is nearly impossible to prevent mites from coming into your lawn, there are several measures that can be taken to prevent these pesky mites from entering your home. Some of these include:

• Removing grass and weeds up to 24 inches away from your home or business
• Placing a plant-free band of wood chips, gravel, lava rock, etc. around the perimeter of your home or business to help keep mites away from the structure. Mites also have a much more difficult time crossing these types of barriers.
• Avoiding lush host plant growth and excessive watering or fertilization near your home or business.
